Kyrillos Praises GrowNJ Grant Role in Lockheed Aegis Contract
March 7th, 2013

With news of the U.S. Navy’s decision to award Lockheed Martin the contract for the production of the Aegis radar system, Senator Joe Kryillos (R- Monmouth) praised the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s award of a $40 million GrowNJ incentive grant credited with strengthening the company’s bid for the contract.

“Lockheed Martin is a major part of New Jersey’s economy,” said Kyrillos, “and the GrowNJ incentive program was designed to help cutting edge firms like Lockheed bring jobs and investment to New Jersey. This is just another example of the positive results gained by state government working in partnership with New Jersey employers and doing what it takes to compete on a national and international scale.”

Kyrillos was a prime sponsor of the legislation establishing the GrowNJ program in 2012. Lockheed Martin employs more than 4300 people at its various facilities across the state of New Jersey.

The GrowNJ incentive grant awarded to Lockheed will be used to improve infrastructure and equipment necessary for Aegis production at the company’s Moorestown facility in Burlington County.
