April 30th, 2013

Senator Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) applauded the state’s announcement today that local school districts have been granted $433,669 in federal funds to help them recover from Superstorm Sandy.

“School communities did an excellent job keeping students safe and promptly returning to the classrooms after the state’s worst storm,” Kyrillos said. “Those in Keansburg, Monmouth Beach, Rumson, Fair Haven and Union Beach certainly deserve these grants to rebuild and prepare for future natural disasters.

”Sixty-one eligible school districts competed for $1.25 million via the U.S. Department of Education’s Project School Emergency Response to Violence program. According to the state, all recipient districts were granted 45 percent of their eligible expenses. Rumson schools received $34,249; Rumson-Fair Haven received $1,174; Keansburg received $322,527; Monmouth Beach received $47,052; and Union Beach received $28,667.
