Bipartisan Kyrillos, Beck Resolution Honors Success of Haskell Invitational with American Pharoah

The Senate adopted a bipartisan resolution by Senators Joe Kyrillos and Jennifer Beck (both R-Monmouth), commending Dennis Drazin and the entire Monmouth Park Racetrack Team for their efforts in executing a historic day, featuring Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, at the 48th William Hill Haskell Invitational on August 2.

Sen. Joe Kyrillos and Sen. Jennifer Beck joined a bipartisan group of legislators to honor Monmouth Park for a successful Haskell Invitational featuring Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

“With this year’s record Haskell Invitational, featuring a Triple Crown winner, Monmouth Park once again showed its economic importance for the region and state by drawing more than 60,000 spectators, a worldwide television audience and creating tens of millions of dollars in economic impact,” Kyrillos said. “The equestrian industry has a long and storied history in the Garden State, producing goods and services in excess of $710 million and providing tens of thousands of jobs, as well as generating significant revenue through racing and recreation.”

“Congratulations and big thanks to Mr. Drazin and the entire team for one of the most successful sports-tourism events in our state’s history,” Beck said. “This is a shining example of just how important Monmouth Park is as a driver of economic activity and jobs for our state, and we will continue to make sure state government will be a great companion as the park expands and moves forward into the future.”

“Horse racing has a great tradition in New Jersey and this year’s Haskell Invitational was a showcase event that the state can be proud of,” said Senate President Stephen Sweeney. “Our horse farms and racetracks are part of an industry that is important to our economy and our identity. I join my Senate colleagues in congratulating Dennis Drazen and Monmouth Racetrack for their contributions to the state.”
